Curriculum

"What the hand does, the mind remembers"

It is a 'child centered approach'

Why Montessori?

Children learn at own pace, according to their capabilities. Materials for ages 2 to 5 are displayed in the environment and they will work with activities that are suitable for them.

01

Exercises of Practical Life

We provide materials based on activities of everyday life like spooning, pouring, cutting vegetables, sweeping, etc. The children learn to care for themselves and their environment leading to independence and enhancement of motor coordination.

03

Language

Language, as we know, is the key to communication. Though the child first phonetically experiences language at home, here in the environment, he hears the sounds, traces the letters with his fingers and sees the alphabet he is tracing making it a multi sensory approach. The vocabulary is further enhanced by storytelling, songs, rhymes and conversation.

05

Culture

Various aspects of art, history and science are introduced in the form of interesting activities and conversations. This exposes the children to different people and their culture, their climate, homes, food, and customs.

07

Dining Etiquette

The Dining Hall is a separate area where children have their snacks, learn table manners and develop conversation and interactive skills. This gives an opportunity for children who are shy to converse.

02

Sensorial Activities

We build a knowledge and understanding of the world through our senses. Here, at our House of Children, the little ones perform various activities with materials that cater to their various senses, right from visual and muscular to baric, thermic, gustatory, etc. This area, in fact, is one of the unique features of the Montessori methodology of education.

04

Mathematics

Children are naturally attracted to numbers since they are so much a part of their everyday lives. From the question, "How old are you?", to "What time is it?" numbers are all around them. Our unique materials for Arithmetic give the children the required stimulation and scope to absorb the concept of not only quantities and symbols, but also operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. The child is offered activities which help him move from quantity to symbol and from concrete to abstract.

06

Physical Movement

We begin our day with simple exercises and movements which help the children calm down in order to improve focus and concentration through the day. Our playground is large and has outdoor equipment and allows children to discover nature and invent new games.
